Option 1: Install Workstation and Database to Local Machine

This option is intended for standalone installations only. Run this option to first install the PayMaster for Windows program files to your local hard drive and then install the database. Both installers will run in this order.

NOTE: It is possible to install the database across a network using this option. Please do not do it. While it is possible to get PayMaster to run if you install it this way, it will likely cause problems later. It is far more difficult to configure the database and the uninstaller will be registered on the local workstation. Although the uninstaller may still work, if you make changes to your network you will probably break the uninstallation. The bottom line is that you will create a lot of manual configuration for yourself which we can not support. The same holds true for the PayMaster program files. So when installing on the server, install on the physical server.

Install PayMaster for Windows 8.0 on local workstation. Click on NEXT.

Read , Review and then Accept the Legal Agreement
Select the Destination Folder, the default is: C:\PRV8

Double click INSTALL. The next screen will show the files being copied

Next, MySQL will be installed
Note: PayMaster for Windows uses a 4.0.xx version of the MySQL database. Do not attempt to upgrade to a 4.1 or 5.0 version of MySQL.

Select the destination folder

Select setup type: Typical should be adequate

Files will copy and show the progress

Click FINISH to complete Setup

IMPORTANT!

You must initialize the database.

This allows the MySQL database to run as a service and sets up the PayMaster specific attributes.

The default directory for the MySQL database is c:\mysql. The Windows' registry checks the location and if it is correct, click on "Initialize". If it is not correct, use the "Browse" button to navigate to the correct location. You can also change the port that MySQL uses on this screen. By default MySQL communicates on port 3306 but you may need to change this if you are running a different version of MySQL for another program on your system (i.e. Create a Check). If you already have an existing MySQL installation or if you want to change the default port, please contact support for details.

Double-click "Initialize" and this completes the installation.

There is an initialization file called "my.ini" located under the Windows directory (i.e. C:\WINNT\MY.INI) that shows the path to MySQL.

Note: The my.ini that is included in the install will work well with small companies. For larger companies the MySQL database can be tuned to be more efficient by editing the my.ini file. Please contact support for details.
