Due to the available OASDI credit the HIRE act created, there will be multiple revisions to the 941 form this year. The credit is not available to take in the 1Q so the 1Q 941 is the same as the 2009 form except for the year. 2Q will have a new form that will have lines to take the credit for part of the first quarter and the complete second quarter. 3Q and possibly 4Q will have lines to take this credit just for their respective quarters.

The 1Q 941 form for 2010 is available now. Once the IRS releases the new 2Q-4Q forms, and official guidance, the forms will be made available through auto-update.

All customers who have a current support contract are entitled to receive the End of Year update and the 2009 tax tables. Please contact support before printing your 2008 W2s and before running your first 2009 payroll. Besides the 2008 W2 module, the EOY of update is a rollup of all the fixes, optimizations, and new reports created over the year. Please call the office to be sure your support contract is up to date and receive instructions on how to download and install the 2008 update.

Since each day states are releasing modifications to the tax code for 2009, the tax table update is not included in the EOY update. It will be released separately and will be available the week of Dec 22,2008 .

For instructions on how to install the tax table update see the latest Blue Pages or call support.

As of Dec 10,2008 this is what is included in the 2009 tax table update.

DO NOT APPLY THIS PATCH UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO RUN YOUR FIRST 2009 PAYROLL.

Updates Federal, EIC, OASDI Max.

Each month the SSA releases an updated list of Social Security Numbers that are newly issued as of that date. PayMaster uses this list to double check your input when you enter a new hire. If you get a message when entering a SSN , it could mean that its a newly issued number and your database is out of date. If you still get a warning of a invalid SSN after updating, you might double check your input or use the built in SSA Verification report that interfaces with the SSA’s online verification system like it.

Auto update is available now for this July change.
Just go to Utilities/Apply SQL Patches and then click on Internet/Check for SQL Updates.
It should download the patch called validSSN_July_2008.sql and then apply this patch to all companies.

Maryland has made a slight change in their tax rates that are effective July 1, 2008.
Their website is not updated yet !
